The world is not ending in 2012. Its the beginning of a new cycle. The sun will align with the center of the milky way galaxy and Dec 21 will be the longest day.

It's just the end of a numbering cycle. When you buy an astrological ephemeris, it covers a decade, a century or a millenium. They don't have to publish the next volume to ensure that stars will still be there. Use your brain!
