What seems to happen is so called experts will find a prophecy that they don't understand, then twist and turn it to relate to current events. After they do this they bring it on to others who buy into it. For one thing the Mayan did not predict the end of the world. Of course we don't know what is going to happen. I do believe though you have some of Nostradamus's prophecy's mixed in with the Mayan. Do some research on your own their are plenty of good sites.

The Mayan's absolutely have the most accurate calender system known to mankind. While the calender may end in 2012, it's more a marking of one transition to another and it happens every 26,000 years. We are living in interesting times, make no mistake and if the Earth Mother takes over (read Earth changes) then more power to her. We've raped her long and hard and this insanity needs to stop. Have no fear my friend, whatever lies beyond 12/21/2012 is for the best.

Oh my gosh!!!
I had barely heard about this "conversation"
about the guy who predicted that the twin towers would…you know…well yeah ..no one beleived him.
and when he died they said he wrote about 2012….
I personally am very scared!
i at least want to finish high school.
and have my career.
Im scared like out of my mind!

Also….their have also been saying such as oh yeah the world is going to die in 2000….NOT!
we lived through…and i hope we live through just like all the other fakes!

No, I don't. It's simply the end of a calendar. There have been literally THOUSANDS of "the world will end in ____" myths, and none have come true so far. Some even more well known and predicted than the mayan calendar.

I think that people have been interpreting vague prophecies with artistic licence to say what they want them to say.

Forget what you have read and come up with your own interpretations. It is very easy to come up with convincing arguments that are at odds with the ‘Mayan’ interpretation.

Oh, and 2012 will be something like the 50th end-of-the-world prophecy I will live through. I am not worried.
