Besides the 2012 Mayan Prophecy, what are some of the other prophecies that hace came true?
I’ve heard the mayan calender predicted the 1st 2 world wars…I’m really curious to hear what else has come true
0. The Maya predicted the return of "Kukulcan" a white bearded god from the East, who had assisted them in setting up their great civilization; Thought to be a survivor of the legendary Atlantis. The Spanish conquistadors arrived on queue. It would appear the Maya were not expecting a god that would nearly wipe them out since they welcomed the conquistadors with open arms.

Does anyone think the Mayan Prediction for 2012 and the Sunspot Theory for 2012 have any validity?
The number of sunspots on the Sun’s surface rises and falls between a maximum and a minimum over an 11-year cycle – the sunspot cycle. At solar maximum there may be as many as 200 spots on the Sun’s surface whereas at solar minimum there may be none at all – the next sunspot maximum is predicted to take place in 2012
Mayan Prediction:
According to the Mayans the present era began 13th August 3114 BC and ends on 21st December 2012 AD.
The Mayan start date of our era is similar to the start date for the Egyptian civilisation, according to modern archaeologists.
I don’t know anything about the sunspot theory, but you did get the Mayan dates right…kind of. The era doesn’t "end" on that day, the 13th Baktun (a time of significance) begins.

They didn’t really predict anything. In fact they have legends in their mythology that are supposed to take place sometimes after the year 5000 by our calendar. The believe that they predicted the end of the world in 2012 comes from the fact that the physical calendars they created ended on the a particular day in 2012. But this is most likely because this date was many many generations in the future, and they didn’t feel the need to calculate any farther in advance, just like we don’t really think too much about what’s going to be happening in the year 4036.

The Mayan’s absolutely have the most accurate calender system known to mankind. While the calender may end in 2012, it’s more a marking of one transition to another and it happens every 26,000 years. We are living in interesting times, make no mistake and if the Earth Mother takes over (read Earth changes) then more power to her. We’ve raped her long and hard and this insanity needs to stop. Have no fear my friend, whatever lies beyond 12/21/2012 is for the best.

No one disagrees that the Mayan calendar ends – for what ever reason – in December of the year 2012. Some day its December 21st and some say its December 23rd.
Anyway, did the Mayans actually tell us what would happen when their calendar ends?

Well the calendar was carved in stone, maybe they ran out of room on the stone to carve more days.
Why does the Mayan calendar abruptly stop in 2012?
I recently read that the polar caps would melt sooner than previously expected, in fact scientists predict that they’ll be gone by 2012. We all know that global warming exists, so will the melting of the caps bring and end to us? So do you think the Mayan’s somehow were shown a glimpse of this by God or in some other way, and left the clue of their calender ending as a sign to warn us?
The world is not ending in 2012. Its the beginning of a new cycle. The sun will align with the center of the milky way galaxy and Dec 21 will be the longest day.

I would call it silly if so many people were not getting scared about it.
One of several Mayan calendars is the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days or 7057.5 years. The next reset date, by some calculations, is December 21, 2012. This is not a prediction of the end of the world.
Ever since the Y2K and 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenarios did not pan out, the scare mongers, conspiracy theorists, book sellers, and television executives have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.
"But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come." (Mark 13:32-33)
Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.
The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.
The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus’ advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.
Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

According to a program on the History Channel, that date corresponds with an extremely rare cosmic event. Our Sun will be aligned with the center of the galaxy. The ancient Mayans used real scientific astronomy to determine dates and events, even if the interpretations weren’t scientific.
It is also true that the Mayan calendar is cyclical in nature, and this will be the end of a cycle. It is also true that, in the past, the ends of cycles in the Mayan calendar correspond with major events.The Mayan tracking of the heavens is as accurate, if not MORE accurate than our own. Anyone who says otherwise has their facts mixed up.
