Is the 2012 prediction true? Or is it a hoax?
I read alot about December 21, 2012. Alot of people say that it’s true. And some say it’s all a lie. But NASA predicted a galactic allignment, and they said that would be doomsday for us all. Is this crap true? I highly disbelieve any of it. Just like they said the world would end in 2000. Nothing happened. Does anyone know alot about all this? I want some scientifc answers…
Here’s a hint. Instead of believing any old crackpot website when they tell you "NASA says…" why not actually go to the NASA website? What you will find is that they say that every doomsday prediction is false. Absolutely everything. Galactic alignment, pole shift, Planet X – all total nonsense, made up by a bunch of lamebrains and crooks after your money. Here’s the NASA website: http://astrobiology.nasa.gov/ask-an-astrobiologist/intro/nibiru-and-doomsday-2012-questions-and-answers
So, given recent events, is the 2012 prediction correct?
With the earth quakes, volcanos, etc. How should we be preparing? Not necessarily from a religious standpoint. What is going on? Is this really different from past events or are we just more aware? Should I forget about my cholesterol or what?
Historical earthquakes in Illinois
According to the USGS[8] there have been several earthquakes in the region, dating back to 1795. In May 26, 1909, a quake struck at Aurora, about 21 miles South of the 2010 quake, that was large enough to knock over chimneys, and cause buildings to sway in Chicago. The 1968 quake (which was centered in the Southern part of the state) was large enough to be felt in 19 states, and as far away as Ontario and Boston.
What does it mean?
Basically, nothing. Earthquakes in this region are rare, but are not unprecedented. There is no reason to link this small earthquake with anything happening in 2012.
Conclusion
Earthquakes in this area are not unprecedented. There is no reason to link this earthquake to something happening in 2012.
On February 27, 2010, a magnitude 8.8 earthquake centered 56 miles northeast of the city of Concepcion at a depth of 35 kilometers was detected by USGS[3][4]. This is the strongest quake in South America since the 1960 Valdivia event[8][5], occurring offshore and slightly northwest of the 1960 quake.1 Tsunami warnings were issued by NOAA for the majority of the Pacific Ocean, and tsunami were recorded in Hawaii and Japan. The according to some computations, the quake may have shortened the length of a day by a very tiny amount[2].
Claims
As with the earthquakes in Illinois and Haiti, this earthquake was immediately seized upon and cited as evidence that "2012 is real". The claim hinges upon a belief that earthquakes are increasing in number and intensity.
We expect to see a lot of citations of these three events (Illinois, Haiti, and Chile) as "evidence".
However, these claims are not supported by the evidence.2
Frequent Quakes in the region
The area struck by this quake is no stranger to large or great quakes. The largest earthquake ever recorded was the 1960 Valdiva earthquake[8]. In addition this quake was nearly identical to the earthquake that Charles Darwin recorded in 1835[1] that devastated Concepción, and raised the island of Santa Maria by about 3 meters. In fact, according to Wikipedia[9], the region has been the site of many large or great quakes.

What do you guys think about the new scientists prediction that the sun will stop turning in 2012?
I recently heard from my uncle (who is an earth scientist/ university proffesor) that there was a gathering of 300 or so scientists who have been monitoring the suns activity and have noticed that sunspots are increasing and that the sun is slowing down its rotation. The suns rotation is apparently what cools it , and when it eventually stops turning (predicted as sometime in 2012) it will continue heating up in its core until it eventually explodes. As such the earth will be plunged to -40 (celcius) temperatures and of course into darkness.
And on a slightly off topic note; isn’t it coincidental that so many religions , civilizations and prophets have predicted the earth ending in 2012? So; what are your guys thoughts?
Regardless of the speculations here…..I saw a documentary some years ago that stated the sun was going to get hotter and hotter until it eventually burns itself out. We’ve seen more solar activity in the last 20 years than ever recorded in history.
Solar flares even knocking out major power grids, sattelite communications, etc…This would naturally cause much panic and despair if the governments of the world told the citizens they knew this to be true. So naturally they would start coming up with storys like global warming and climate shift. I think the theory of the sun burning out holds the truth and yes many cultures and civilizations have revered the sun to be the all mighty giver and the taker away of life. We have let the ancient teachings get so far away from us that it has become a joke for some to think that the ancient Mayans or the Aztecs could have been on to something. I hate how people are so gullible to believe that the government would tell us all……"yes it’s true ladies and gentlemen. The world as we know it will be over in 2012"
Can you imagine the whole world would go mad!
BTW The sun is a star and all stars burn out eventually.
