What do Christians think of the 2012 prophecies that the world will end?

God through Christ told us that it was none of our business to know such details. We have to be content with seeing the signs of the end, the wars, the violence, etc, etc.

Since this is the case as far as we are concerned, we must not heed anyone who claims to know that day and hour. We do have specific information about the times, even the number of days, once the end period has been identified by the destruction of Babylon the Great. Until that time, other people can say what they want — it is of no importance what other people do.

Many of the ungodly because of their unbelief cannot comprehend that God has communicated all he wants us to know in his Holy Word. We have been told that those who do not believe will be unable to fathom our spirituality, and so it is.

So many preach neverlutionism while their world is falling apart around them, socially, economically, ecologically, in regard to the growing of food be it vegetable, seafood, or other animal protein.

It is somewhat amusing to watch this kind of nihilistic philosophy being preached while the Titanic-planet earth is sinking in the chasm of destruction around them. Too bad they don’t have the common sense to do it with a few beers in their hands – it would make them feel good at least.

i dnt think the world will end directly in 2012, the bible says how there will the long periods of time when the antichrist rules, he still has to defile the temple of jerusalem, create and 200,000 man army or 2 million(cnt remember the number).
I think an event in 2012 will trigger the beginning of the end, the antichrist will be among us or 10 nations will be united against israel.

If we were to believe this, that would make Jesus a liar, because He said that no one knows except God the Father.

    It’s false.

    Matthew 24:36
No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

The Bible says that no man can know when the end will be, except God. People who SAY they know cannot KNOW. The Bible does teach us to be watchful for the signs of HIS return, though. There are so many predictions that if they start to unfold, you won’t have any problem recognizing them. We are told when that happens to keep our eyes on the sky as He will return in the clouds. (rapture) Are they beginning to unfold? Now, that is the real question, isn’t it?

A Christian should remember that Christ, the one who we take our name from said:

Mat 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

The End will not come from a Natural Disaster – but from or at the Hands of Man.

It’s a load of baloney in the sense that "No man knoweth the day nor the hour…." of the Rapture, but it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that it COULD occur then.

Probably the most far-fetched of all the claims made about 2012 has been the "Bible Code".

I don’t think most Christians appreciate these idiots digging through their Holy Book looking for something they can use their Dick Tracy Decoder Ring on.
