Is the 2012 story a prophecy or myth?

I’ve heard crazy things about 2012 and a lot of these things sound true and are just too hard to believe! I’d really want something to tell me everything about this and tell me,"is this a prophecy or myth"? I really need an answer because this is just freaking me out and giving me the chills 24/7!

It is neither a prophecy nor a myth. It is a hoax created by frauds and wackjobs to make money.

The claimed 2012 doomsday is a hoax. Everything the scam artists are saying about 2012 is utterly false.

The Mayan calendar doesn’t end, it just recycles. The Maya didn’t predict anything for 2012. They didn’t make prophecies and the end of one cycle and start of another was an event to celebrate.

The people talking about all the signs of the end times happening now don’t realize that they have been happening throughout history.

The History Channel doomsday schlockumentary consists of lies, half truths, and wild speculation.
There were no ancient prophecies concerning 2012. Nostradamus never mentioned it. No one predicted it before the hoaxers started claiming it. This was after their 2003 doomsday failed to occur on schedule and they needed to keep selling their books and assorted doomsday garbage.

None of it is said or supported by scientists.

All the claimed astronomical events are either impossible or have no effect on us.

The Solar maximum is now expected to occur in May 2013 and to be less energetic than average. It could interfere with electronics and communications.

We aren’t going to have any alignments aside from the apparent alignment that occurs every year at the December solstice.

Geomagnetic reversal (polar reversal) takes hundreds to thousands of years to occur. We wouldn’t even feel it happening.

Nibiru doesn’t exist. It came from Z. Sitchen’s misinterpretation of ancient Sumerian references to the planet Jupiter. Even Sitchen didn’t claim it would come back in 2012 (he said 2085). Nancy Lieder, who hears aliens in her head and originally said her "Planet X" would be here in 2003) took over Sitchen’s imaginary planet and changed her doomsday date to 2012 when her original prediction failed.

The Institute for Human Continuity isn’t a real organization. It is a website advertising the movie 2012. It is run by Sony Pictures and if you look around on the site, you will find that the “Press Releases” are all about characters in the movie. It is all fictional.

That covers most of the absurd claims. The world will still be here after 2012, along with most of us.

Is the 2012 prediction of mass chaos and possibly nuclear war more/less likely if a Repub is president then?

Just thinking about the "it’s us against them" and the "If you’re not with us you’re against us" pro military pro war mentality that seems to be a strong ideology of Republicans

As one of the other people said, not a Republican in sight until January 2013. I would watch out for September-December 2011 because we could be heading into a depression and that is when it would come to a head. I believe that this is just the eye of the (financial)storm

What do Christians think of the 2012 prophecies that the world will end?

God through Christ told us that it was none of our business to know such details. We have to be content with seeing the signs of the end, the wars, the violence, etc, etc.

Since this is the case as far as we are concerned, we must not heed anyone who claims to know that day and hour. We do have specific information about the times, even the number of days, once the end period has been identified by the destruction of Babylon the Great. Until that time, other people can say what they want — it is of no importance what other people do.

Many of the ungodly because of their unbelief cannot comprehend that God has communicated all he wants us to know in his Holy Word. We have been told that those who do not believe will be unable to fathom our spirituality, and so it is.

So many preach neverlutionism while their world is falling apart around them, socially, economically, ecologically, in regard to the growing of food be it vegetable, seafood, or other animal protein.

It is somewhat amusing to watch this kind of nihilistic philosophy being preached while the Titanic-planet earth is sinking in the chasm of destruction around them. Too bad they don’t have the common sense to do it with a few beers in their hands – it would make them feel good at least.

would you rather perish or survive the 2012 apocalypse?

if it’s true, that is

i’d rather perish, than to be killed for my food later!

Have you played fallout 3 well it would be like that if you survived.
